The Vancouver-based Jim Pattison Group is Canada’s third largest privately held company. Established in 1961 with the acquisition of a Pontiac Buick dealership, the group now comprises 23 companies within 12 operating divisions and is active across a broad spectrum of industries such as grocery stores, speciality packaging, advertising, magazine distribution, broadcasting, and automotive retailing. Annual sales have grown from $2.2 million to $6.1 billion in 2006. In the same period, the group’s number of employees has increased from 51 to 28,000.
